Vikings on the rampage

U15s score big win at Eccleshall

Leek under 15s Vikings' dominant pack sets the foundations for the team to run riot for an impressive 7-48 away win at Eccleshall.

The pack - Bob, Tom, Olli, Harry, Rowan, Jamie, Olly and Tom Jon - set the tone for the day, engineering fast ball with destructive intent at the breakdown, allowing scrum half Jay to pounce from close range to open the scoring in under three minutes.

Two more quick tries followed, skipper Harry and fellow front rower Bob storming to the try line.

Game management and maturity followed, with a penalty kicked by Louis to make it 24-0.
Second row Rowan was then in the thick of the action, brushing off tacklers to score. All four tries were brilliantly converted by Louis.

Eccleshall found some much needed energy in the second half, forcing Leek into a hard defensive shift, centre Neisonand full back Joe showing relentless work rates with tackles and scramble defence. Eccleshall eventually breached the defence to score a converted try.

Leek wrestled back command of the ball, and started to exploit space. Fly half Frazer consistently moving the ball to players in space, allowing brilliant attacking runs from Jacob, Stan, Leo and Joe to break Eccleshall's spirit. The attacks led to Jamie rampaging over the line to score his first try in three years. He then converted Rowan's second try of the afternoon.

The final try was the best of the day. The ball moved with pace through the hands and Eccleshall's defence dragged one way, before quick rucks allowed for the attack to move to the other wing, where the ever impressive full back Joe sprinted into the corner to score.

A brilliant team effort and delivery of the game plan, well done lads!
