Welsh Wizard Brenig Hughes bagged himself a try and was a thorn in the side of Rossendale all game with some piercing carries and excellent work in defence to claim the Ken Jervis Kia player of the match award for the 1st XV. For the 2nd XV it was Conlon Newton-Taylor whose industrious performance in the lineout and in the loose, including a try, helped Leek to overcome a physical Rugeley team. Conlon is kindly sponsored by EnviroQuest.

Despite a mis-matched game for the 3s they still stick to their task for 80 minutes, none more so than stand in skipper for the day James Allcock.

And for the Colts, number 8 Oscar Powell’s brace of tries and strong ball carrying throughout helped them to an enjoyable derby day victory against Stoke under the lights on Friday.
