On Sunday, our combined Leek/Longton Lightning u14s travelled to Tamworth for the first Pitch Up and Play event of the season. L/L joined with Loughborough RUFC making the Triple Ls for the day.
The teams merged really well with some girls stepping into new roles. The best example of this was Cora who had a crash course in being a flanker for the uncontested scrums!
The improvement in the team from last season has continued with increased game awareness and some wonderful support play.
Triple Ls beat Stoke/Tamworth comfortably and followed it up with a good win over Stafford.
Our levels dropped for a tough final clash with a well-drilled Lichfield side, resulting in a win for Lichfield.
A big shout out to all the U12s stepping up , with Morgan and Freya more than matching the pace at this level. Roll on this weekend and a similar fixture at Stafford.
Elsewhere our U16 and u18 girls travelled to Stafford for joint matches with a variety of Staffs girls rugby teams. Focus of the day was to reintegrate into contact rugby, mix up the teams make friends and have a good day. Over 100 staffs young ladies turned up to play and a great day was had by all.
If anyone is interested in joining the club and giving girls rugby a try then please message us for more information. We offer an active, fun environment for girls aged 11-18 to play rugby with a great pathway to county rugby and beyond.
